Script Information
We make scripts for all titles that we translate and subtitle available
for download, generally shortly after project completion. (A few of our
scripts exist only in an internal format and have not yet been made
available for download, but we are working on correcting this.) We
also make copies of our scripts available from various online script
repositories. You are free to post our scripts wherever you like,
although we would ask that you try to ensure that you always have the
most recent versions of our scripts available. (Also, while not
necessary, it would be nice if you could let us know where you are
posting our scripts, just for our own reference.)
We place no restrictions on the use of our scripts, although it would
be courteous to provide due credit if our scripts were to be used in
another project. We do ask that you refrain from distributing our
scripts in regions where a title is commercially available. (We remove
scripts fromour site in the event that a title becomes commercially
released in our region.)
All of our script files are available in plain-text format (UTF-8
encoded, with Windows line-endings). We also provide scripts in
SubStation Alpha (SSA) and Eva (XML) formats.
(Presently, not all of the scripts are available in all three
formats, but we intend to provide all three formats for each
script in the future.)
Please note that some of the SSA files (particularly the older ones)
may require that special fonts, etc. be installed on your system; if
you wish to use these scripts for actual subbing, you will need to
ensure that any custom fonts or other resources are available on
your system. (We do not offer these for download.)
Also note that some of our older scripts were calibrated based on our
old subtitling machine (and the inter-track seek time gaps of the DVD
player that we used to use when subtitling via a genlock-based system).
Consequently, those scripts may require scaling or other timing
adjustments in order to remain synchronized with your particular system.
In general, it may be best to use these scripts for reference, and to
create your own timings based on your particular system and audio/video
sources.
Some of the titles that we have translated and subtitled have been
subsequently licensed for commercial distribution in our territory
(North American, English-language market). We no longer maintain
these scripts; these titles are classified as “retired,” and
such scripts will be removed as the commercially released episodes
become available. Please do not ask for copies of scripts that are
no longer available for download.
We actively maintain the scripts for titles that have not been
domestically licensed. If you find a typographical error, a problem
with the timing, or a translation that you believe to be incorrect or
otherwise problematic, please email
us. You can also use the online script viewer
to submit problem reports directly from the web site.
